7 Ways You Can Help on Earth Day
Earth Day is quickly approaching! Whether you are joining a local event, making a donation, or helping the environment solo, YOU are making a difference. We gathered up a list of ideas that you can do to help the earth, not only for Earth Day but year-round!
1. Organize or Join a Community Clean Up
Take a look at your community events to see if anyone is organizing a neighborhood or beach clean-up (if you are near a beach). If not, grab a bag or bucket and gloves and clean up for a couple of hours. You probably won’t believe the things you will find!
2. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Instead of tossing a jar, reuse it as a piggy bank. Bring recyclable bags to go shopping. Use a water bottle to refill your water instead of buying plastic water bottles. Bring reusable forks, spoons, and knives while you are bringing food on the go. There are many ways you can reduce, reuse, and recycle in everyday life! What things do you do?
3. Plant a Tree
Plant a tree or donate to an organization to have a tree planted in your name, such as Kids Saving the Rainforest. One single tree can make a difference by cleaning the air, conserving energy, providing food, saving water, and more!
4. Walk or Ride Your Bike
Go green by walking or riding your bike instead of driving. Reduce pollution and give your car a rest this Earth Day!
5. Reduce Water Usage
Reduce water usage by turning off the faucet while brushing your teeth. Only turn it on when you rinse your brush or rinse your mouth. You can also reduce water by taking a shorter shower. Take the challenge!
6. Don’t Forget to Turn Off the Light
You probably have heard it a million times... “Turn the light off when you leave the room”. Try to conserve electrical energy as much as you can.
7. Donate to an Organization
There are many organizations with a mission to keep the Earth clean. Do your research and donate time or money to make Earth a better place this Earth Day.
Don’t forget to get outside and do your part this Earth Day...and don’t be afraid of getting dirty! How do you plan on contributing to Earth Day?
